In August, Discovery Channel featured BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken and how it has been scientifically proven to enhance mental performance.
EXTENSIVE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH BEHIND BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken
Shot on location in Korea at the Brain Research Institute, Chungnam National University, the most recent scientific collaboration between Professor Jin-Hun Sohn and BRAND'S® Health Science Centre, Cerebos Pacific Limited was featured. The research sees the clever use of fMRI technology to capture increased activation of certain brain regions related to attention, memory and planning in those who drank BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken. It gives the viewer a good idea of the science that goes behind the product and its proven efficacies.
Previous scientific studies were also conducted by Dr Shigeki Watanuki from the Kyushu University in Japan and Dr Azhar Mohd Zain from the Universiti Putra Malaysia on mental concentration and memory respectively.
A ROYAL HERITAGE
The feature film also described the Royal beginnings of BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken as a healthy brew fit for a King. Back in the 1820s, King George IV of Britain, feeling unwell, was given an age old recipe of chicken broth by the Royal Chef, Henderson William Brand. Chef Brand's recipe obviously had a powerful effect on King George. Once he retired from Royal service, Mr. Brand started his own company selling this health drink.
The Royal heritage of this powerful brain booster, once a traditional English recipe, is today transformed into a modern manufacturing process in Asia that produces over 400,000 bottles everyday. Using a method similar to the traditional double-boiling method, the chickens, selected for their high quality and freshness, are cooked in vats that are 400 times larger than the average pot and centrally controlled by computers. BRAIN PERFORMANCE
The most interesting part of the documentary is the EEG machine, a diagnostic machine that measures brain waves. Brain pulses travel along these wires where the brain registers enhanced brain activities. This study led by Dr Shigeki Watanuki from Kyushu University in Japan, demonstrated that BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken increases brain activity associated with mental concentration, meaning that BRAND'S® Essence of Chicken can improve our mental performance.
